BUYERS' GUIDE LENS TEST: Cloud and Sky Photos from Vivitar 28, Nikkor 50/55-200/43-86, Soligor 80-200

Cloud and Sky Photos from January
Cloud and sky photos might be a boring topic, but the contrast between
shadows and highlights are simply beautiful!

Cloud and sky photos are randomly beautiful, even in a smog-polluted atmosphere here in the Metro. Clouds might be a boring subject, but the texture made by juxtaposing shadows and highlights make for some cool dramatic effects.

Part of the inspiration behind this theme is Ansel Adams. Many of his monumental images are B&W but even in the absence of colors, you could feel a breathtaking aura from them.

You will need a telephoto lens that starts at 90 mm to be able to reach for the sky. Circular Polarizing Filter and Neutral Density Filter can come handy in this situation.
