December 11, 2015: First attempt at long exposure, Welcome Rotonda

Walking along the footbridge that crosses over Welcome Rotonda, Quezon City -- it's an imposing experience each time. Most of the time, we just rush past the bridge, don't we? Let's give ourselves an occasional meditative walk when we're there...

I took some daytime photos over there before, and this time I wanted to have my first try at long exposure. The bridge sure is shaky so handheld is not the way to go. Without a tripod, I just rested the camera on the railings of the bridge.

For the exposure, I played with shutter speeds of 3 to 10 seconds. I find that 4 seconds did the job perfectly. The Nikon D5200 was also set to Auto ISO mode. The lens I used here is the Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 VR2.

I noticed that a stray kid was watching me, so I invited her to press a button or two on the camera and she sure enjoyed playing with it.

PS. I'm alert when it comes to security, so I scouted the area first. These are just test shots anyway, so I didn't shoot alot.
