March 9, 2016.

Looking for a cheap light source? Here's a bright idea... why not try a cheap headlight? I keep seeing these things in the bangketas and have been contemplating to try one. I'm a little cautious when it comes to safety, as everybody knows. But being an experimental geek, to try is nothing to lose.

I never wanted to be bothered by carrying huge gear everyday. DSLR body and lens -- they're heavy enough and are all that need to be in my bag. I've been using my mobile phone's LED as light source for a while and sometimes it's not powerful enough.

Turns out, the cheap head light is a fine light source, pretty bright in fact. I only charged it for an hour as per instruction. I haven't been charging it for 3 weeks and it's still shining bright. The only thing is that the light has a strong cyan hue and ruins the color balance of my photos. My quick fix is to wrap an old beige colored stocking or a yellow sheet of plastic over the glass for a warm effect.

Lining the inner wall of my desktop lamp for extra brightness is another bright idea. Very useful for steady product photos. A roll of tin foil only cost P25! Do you have any cheap ideas to share? Comment below! =)
