October 31, 2016: Photowalk Flower Hunting in the Neighborhood, Revisiting My Old Home
October 31, 2016.
Today, I'm taking out the Nikkor AF 28-105mm f/3.5-4. D Macro for a walk along the neighborhood in Retiro up to Welcome Rotonda. I always see beautiful flower gardens spread along the streets and the sidewalk, so they're too precious to miss. It's late afternoon already, so it was pretty dark.
My goal was to be able to utilize the macro feature of the lens, since this lens is mostly used for product shots, and 99% of all my product photos/videos were using this lens since I got it. It's the best ever kit lens for me, allowing me to get as close as 0.1 meters, it's not true macro lens but at 1:2 it's still pretty useful since it doesn't have much distracting distortions.
Many times, I write about getting disturbingly recurring dreams about my childhood and the old home that we used to live in. I've had my fair share of paranormal experiences in my room. Things like missing things and suddenly re-appearing, seeing the rocking chair rock on its own, the feeling that there is someone in the 'hallway', being attacked in my sleep, seeing a dark shadowy figure in my sleep, being choked, voices calling me in broad daylight (it made my heart stop). But maybe will tell you more next time.
It's sad that when I look at the neighborhood now, everything I last saw 17 years ago are already gone. The other neighbors have moved out or died... nothing's the same anymore. But it's strange that I feel like I'm still a part of it, as if I just moved out yesterday.
Regardless, I miss that home so much since we moved out in 2000. It used to be a quiet rural-like neighborhood. It's sad to see that it's one of the only 2 old buildings left in the whole block. The rest are now replaced by new buildings, and half of it is an empty lot which belongs to McDo. Oh, imagine, McDo is just next to our home if I'm still living there.
How about you, have you ever felt like missing your old home or yearning to conjure the distant past too?
If I still lived there, and McDo opened right next to our home... I will surely be there every day for the rest of my life. I love McDo!
Just around the corner of outside our old home, is the famous place where you get your arts, decors and crafts.
