I like tinkering with mechanical stuff, the challenge is simply stimulating. This lens was stuck wide at f/2.8 when it arrived. The question of which part goes to where is easy to figure out. The lens sits inside a focusing heliciod, but it looks like the only way for me to clean those blades is to take EVERYTHING apart.

The oil was so thick like mud -- I thought there was a cement gluing the plate while I was exerting some effort pushing the lever like I was pushing thumb tack against hard wood. Then it eventually let loose amd released the blades.

So there, things can be messy, but this is a sort of educational study for me. Long story short, everything was squeaky clean after 2 hours of work. Even the rubber grip was restored back to its shiny black finish. The item now looks brand new!

My next problem is to file some metal parts off the rear so I can convert it into a Nikon mount. It should be done in a month or two...

All my samples were at f/2.8, freelensing. No edit.
